Testimonials About BPI
Mike,
It [The Investigative Photography Workshop] exceeded my expectations. It was a very good course. It was more demanding (in a good way) because it expected more from each person but it embedded it into my head.

Mike,
This course was fantastic! I learned more about cameras and photography in one week than I knew from years of experience.
Format of lecture, practice, then reinforcement thoughout the week greatly aided the learning process.
Course was great and I would highly recommend.

Mike,
[You went] Above and Beyond! I needed this years ago. I am no longer afraid of my camera which I have been for a long time.
Everything was current and accurate to what I experience every day at work.
I feel everyone in our unti who operates a camera should attend this course.

Mike,
This course was very informative, easy to understand and then apply the knowledge learned.
Great course for anyone doing investigative photography. Information and knowledge gained will greatly aid everyday work.
I took more information away from this course than I ever thught. My understanding of the information now is light years from where it was. I will recommend this course to anyone what is interested.

Mike,
I've been told or shown these same concepts (the basics of photography) many times and could never grasp it. During this class my understanding opened up considerably. I now feel confident that I can finally understand the concepts.
To me you kept the class simple and that really helped. You going over the "principles of photography"on a daily basis is great. I will spread the word that this is the instructor that people need.

Hi Mike,
There wasn't enough room in that card to say exactly how great I thought your class was.
I feel like I finally got the foundation I have needed for years.
To begin with, the pre-reading was excellent, it clearly explained many terms that I had heard but never understood. Your lectures and power points were also extremely well done and easy to understand, and the practical assignments were well planned and fun.
The daily reviews were perfect for students like me who need repetition.
You really thought of everything.
I'm so excited to practice what I learned and to continue to learn more.
I'd love to take another one of your classes some time.
Take care,
E.M.

Mike,
I wanted to let you know that I thought the photography class was one of the best classes that I have attended…
…I have expressed that to my administration here and told them of the great curriculum you put on at the FBI Academy.
We would like to write a letter expressing our gratitude to the Lab Director and your immediate supervisor if it is ok with you (if they are the correct people that need to be contacted)?
Could you please give the names and addresses of people whom we mail the letters?
Thanks again for everything.

Hi Mike,
I just wanted to say what an awesome time I had in your class.
[Recently] I gave a one day photography course to 4 new transfers last week.
[In your class] I learned some valuable skills and I hope to come back next year for Forensic I.
I would actually do it on my own time if my department did not approve me.
Thanks again.

Michael,
Just thought I would send a few lines to say thank you so much for the training received in your classroom.
You were able to take a difficult and intimidating subject and present it in a way that was practical and less confusing than many of the textbooks I have at my desk.
Thanks for taking so much time with all of us. I hope to attend further training with you in the future.
I really enjoyed the training and feel more confident behind the camera. When I returned home the District Attorney contacted me and requested I provide training in 35 mm to local agencies in my area.
Can’t wait!
Thanks again, talk to you again.

Mike,
You do a great job, and a great service to all of us involved in this [web]site [Investigative Photography Group].
Many contribute much more than others, but I think that all of us can be quite thankful for the valuable information we receive here. And none of it would be possible without your energies invested.
For myself, I want to thank you for providing this forum and for the no doubt countless hours you spend maintaining the site. I'd like to buy you an e-beer!
Cheers!!

Mike,
The single best course that I have attended in my 14+ year law enforcement career.
The phrase "know it all" should have been coined after you Mike, because you really "know it all".
[The class] had very good illustrations that drove various points home. The practical exercises were wonderful, and really helped in learning the various techniques.

Mike,
I've been a photographer for 19+ years. Not only was this a great refresher course, but I was able to learn more techniques to use in the field.
M. Brooks is an outstanding instructor with a world of knowledge. I'm amazed at the diverse assignments we did in class.
Of all the Police photo classes I've attended I have never seen as comprehensive of a program. I wish I could send all of my officers.

Mike,
I just wanted to say thank you for everything you did for the class during the two weeks of class. The DC trip was awesome!!!
I don't think I have ever had the opportunity to go before know and would have had the opportunity in the future. Also, you made class exciting which is definitely not something that everyone can do.
Anyways, I just wanted to send you a quick thank you and I won't take up anymore of your time.

Mike,
This course exceeded all of my expectations. I really learned a tremendous amount.
You made it easy to understand and had loads of patience. I would recommend this course to "all" crime scene techs.
I learned so much important info I would have never learned otherwise.

Mike,
I just wanted to say hello and thank you for putting together such a great course. I know I was a pain in the a** with so many questions, but I was just trying to learn, which I did. I've been to a lot of training classes over the years, and yours by far, was the best I've ever attended. I'm not trying to blow smoke either. I look forward to hopefully getting [the opportunity] to attend the next two classes.
Take care,

Dr. Jane Homeyer,
Here are comments made about Michael Brooks after the recent class he taught here at the Prince William County County Criminal Justice Academy.
- There was not a single question that Mr. Brooks could not fully explain. He was extremely effective in giving explanations and made it obvious that he is an expert in this field. This is probably the best overall class that I have attended..excellent instructor.
- This instructor needs to brought here more often (more classes offered). He really helped [the] students understand the course.
- The instructor did an excellent job in presenting the course material and presented a very useful course. Very beneficial, provided excellent knowledge and applicable material. Was very organized with course outline and lesson plan.
- Mike made us feel comfortable and relayed everything to us in a friendly and esy way. I would enjoy taking any other individual courses he offers with photography. This was the best course I have taken here [and] I look forward to applying it.
