Great children’s photographers will make the whole experience fun for the children and as relaxing as possible for mom and dad. Taking a child to the photo studio and making him sit still while some unknown person clicks a camera in his face is not going to give the outcome you are looking for.
Camera men, who are practiced working with young ones, know that they hold a hunch on how to read adults. They can tell instantly if the adult genuinely likes kids or is just bearing them. If they observe the second, you may have just found the reason why your normally obedient child acts like a monster at the photographers.
If you would like to be a successful children’s photographers you have to allow the kids play. You have to try to converse with them on their level without being patronizing. You also should understand children. It is amazing how many expert camera men will expect a child to sit silent for what looks like hours while they take on this pose or that. This is just stupid.
When you act with kids you should work fast. Actually you only have a couple of minutes, at times even less than that, to get the snap right. This doesn’t allow for amateur faults. Kids get fed up really fast and their conduct will start to worsen.
In addition to working prompt, you need to give them a time out as soon as you see they are getting irked. Hopefully then you will be able to re-engage their attention and take more snaps. Before you even begin taking photographs of the child, the specialist should have agreed with the parents the kind of shots they expect and how many. Having a fixed plan in mind and knowing just what you require to happen will help to cut short any problems. Also the better your children’s photographers communicates with you, i.e. the customer the more likely you are to achieve a positive outcome.
